As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, I flew back from Labuan in the middle of a project to deliberately attend the much anticipated My Women Stuff Readers Choice Awards 2011, which was held on Saturday, 29th October 2011.
It was held at the Coffee Chemistry Cafe of Cubic Platforms in Sunway Giza… which is very near where I stay thankfully :D Words cannot describe how happy I was to hear about the location, as it was a Saturday and I was worried about having to drive down to somewhere like the middle of Kuala Lumpur, which I am not terribly familiar with :P So I was there about half an hour early, but due to my excitement I neglected to take photos of the venue as I arrived there :s It was a nice, cosy place though, with helium balloons tied to the chairs :D

The registration counter was manned by Connie of Skin Deco and Dom/Yvonne of Belle Demoiselle, for one. How could I remember to take photos after that? :P
Then Paris B herself- the owner, writer and editor of My Women Stuff and the main organiser of the event also came to talk to me personally, and I was really starstruck! To finally meet her is an honour indeed and a reason why I attended :D I also spotted Xin of Pretty Beautiful and also Beatrice of Beetrice’s Reviews. Just… wow. Seriously, I found it hard to talk properly or in a coherent sentence, especially to them because I was so starstruck D: Apologies to everyone if I was blabbering and/or talking nonsense! Please take it as a compliment instead as I’m only like that around people who amaze me :D

People started trickling in, and there was my HELP University coursemate Ee Fei/electronicfly also in attendance. My table was also populated by Hanny of Hanny’s Random Ramblings and also Claire/Monstro… whose claim to fame is… wait for it… designing the logo for My Women Stuff and also for the event! We bonded over coffee (Lovely latte!) and refreshments which consisted of salad, pasta, sausages and wraps (Which I again neglected to take photos of) and of course beauty talk, and they were such a lovely bunch! ♥ Not only that, a few other ladies came by to say hi! Hello Rinnah of Rinnah’s Consumer Views (Finally!), Lyn of The Beauty Cabinet and Lee of Posey Lass! :D

After refreshments, all of us adjourned to the training room of the place for the main event- the announcement of the results for the My Women Stuff Readers Choice Awards 2011! Nominations had been opened from 19th to 25th September and voting was from 3rd to 21st October. It was quite tough for me in a way since there are some products in the categories that I don’t use at all :P

Paris B herself giving a speech :) I managed to capture her in a smile.
I’m not going to post the results here- if you want to, you can check it out for yourself officially :D I have to say, some of the results were actually quite surprising to me (Some are not, though, since they’re either “famous” or friendly to the wallet)… which is to say, my guesses didn’t quite make the cut (I tell everyone that I could vote with my eyes closed already, and my votes are based on my real experiences with the products in most cases and reviews in other cases), but I’m sure I predicted more than 3 correct haha!

Some of the committee members and/or beauty bloggers- Beatrice, Connie, Rinnah, Lee, with the MC of the day Juan/toughcookee.

Cake was then served- red velvet if I’m not mistaken from Just Heavenly. It’s delish! It’s not too creamy or sweet, the chocolate and cream cheese blends together perfectly. Then there was a best-dressed (In which Erin won, but had to compete with Dom/Yvonne and Lee) and a lucky draw. With my usual luck I won nothing :P But congratulations to those who did! ;)
Hilarious moment: A guy (Kenneth, from his name tag), actually was the original winner for a waxing and treatment voucher. You have no idea how much everyone laughed, me included!
With all the main agenda pretty much done, we took the opportunity to mingle around and snapped photos :D

Tablemates for the day- Gin, Hanny and Ee Fei/electronicfly.

With Dom/Yvonne and Rinnah.

There’s Lee, Lyn, Erin, Connie and also Claire/Monstro. Sorry about the dark photo sadly :(

Oh here’s a better one from (And also with) Hanny!

Photo taken by Hanny. With Lee and Lyn.

With Rinnah (Again :D) and Xin.

And finally, with the lady herself, Paris B. Gorgeous, isn’t she?
I also managed to meet Jess of Jessying and also Yani of Red Luscious Lips, though briefly. I never got to snap a photo with either of them :( /sad

Oh, and one of the stars of the event (To me- first are the people)- the goodie bag! Paris B has always been teasing us readers on Twitter about it. And make no mistake, it’s definitely hefty and looks really classy too!

Just look at how filled to the brim it is :P

Contents all dug and laid out. It’s all definitely very interesting and there are stuff that I would love to try, and I also see products that I can share with and/or bequeath to my Mum, Dad and also dearest Louis :D For sure, I’m going to keep/use/try out the Ah Yuan Soap soap sample (Purple Gromwell And Roselle), Garnier Light B.B. Instant Fairness BB Eye Roll-On and travel sized Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve :P Not photographed are vouchers for Apronbay, Poise Organic Wellness Studio and Lace Petals, along with a letter from Paris B expressing her thanks to her readers/friends/supporters/attendees for the event.

Then there’s the star of the goodie bag- something from Sweet Contemplation Accessories, all the way in Australia! What is it, I wonder?

A beautiful handmade necklace. It’s simply gorgeous. Beautifully made and designed indeed :) I do look forward to getting something from Sweet Contemplation Accessories- mainly the Byzantium bracelet for the longest time ever, and their earrings (I think Mum would like some of them, but she can be quite picky), but have kept putting it off :(

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it was a great afternoon. I love how cosy the whole ambience is without feeling overly clique-y, how great and gracious a hostess Paris B herself is and how friendly everyone is. Even though we barely knew each other (Except maybe through photos in some cases), we all still smiled and nodded at each other at the very least. Everyone was lovely and pleasant and an absolute pleasure to talk to! It’s almost like long lost friends reuniting and just catching up :D I’m really honoured to be able to be a part of this event and have been looking forward to this opportunity to meet up with these wonderful people since the day I followed and read their blogs :) Definitely looking forward to more events and/or meet-ups such as this! :)
For those curious, my nyonya kebaya was custom made in Malacca. On my face I am wearing Burberry Beauty Luminous Compact Foundation In Trench No. 04 over my newly bought Chanel Precision UV Essentiel Multi-Protection Daily UV Care SPF50 (Which is over my skincare), Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion and Chanel Inimitable Extreme in Pure Black on my eyes and on my lips, Urban Decay 24/6 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Gash. The dress code calls for bright/red lips- I can’t use normal lipstick because of my two front teeth (The colour rubs off on it and thus stains my teeth- not a pretty look) and lip gloss is too sheer so I settled using lip liner as a lipstick, and it works ;D I bought the lip liner deliberately for the event just 2 days before! :P
Seriously though, this all makes me feel like going back to beauty blogging, or at least exclusively reviewing skincare and makeup full-time. I tried my hand at it 3 years ago, but stopped after 3 months because of the amount of money I spent (Though looking at the amount of products I have amassed since then I think I would have more to review about already) and the lack of time. Yes/No?
Hi Stephanie I’m glad you had a good time and enjoyed yourself at the little event! The cake was Choc n Cheese actually but do try the rest because they are absolutely delish! Thanks for the post! :D
Yes I definitely did! Thank you again and again for hosting and organising such a lovely event! :) Ooooh all right, thanks for the clarification on the cake name/flavour :P I shall try the Black Forest when I have the chance to drop by there because I’m crazy about Black Forest cake haha! :D You’re welcome!
