Listening To: Chris Cornell- You Know My Name

Because I ran out of ideas for titles >_> My brain hasn’t been functioning well for some reason- I suspect that it’s due to high cognitive load… loosely translated as I have too much on my mind lately. Le sigh.

Anyway, as some might already know… I have an additional member in my family, which requires my attention as well:

It’s a male Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy, currently around 2 months of age. The photo is taken by me, and the person holding the puppy is my little brother, and we were at the Petsmore shop in Old Klang Road where we got him. He cost around RM 2380… but he also has a microchip and a MKA (Malaysian Kennel Association) certificate. His name? Since my family isn’t too big on fancy names… he’s just known as… Boy XD Although, interestingly, the breeder listed his name officially on the certificate and his veterinarian record card as… *Dramatic pause* Hailey’s Comet (sic). Figures, since they’re quite hyper and can be really fast XD

I swear, their ears are more full of expression than their face XD We got him 3 days ago, which was on the 3rd June 2009, and he’s a lovely and hyperactive pup… with a bit of attention deficit disorder I guess D: He’s definitely adjusting well. I’ve always loved the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed, especially after watching Ein in the anime Cowboy Bebop, and they are actually quite rare and expensive here in Malaysia. Never would I imagine we would actually own one >_> My family’s other breed of choice is the Golden Retriever for obvious reasons, but due to space constraints (We plan to keep the dog inside the house), it wasn’t plausible, so we settled for this :P It was the only breed apart from the Golden Retriever that everyone in the family could agree on, so yeah, and it’s also smaller (It’s classified as medium, if I’m not mistaken). Small = less damage to the house.

My guinea pig is a bit mortified (Compared to the young, youthful puppy, my guinea pig seems to be in the adolescent angst stage), of course, but he doesn’t seem to mind the presence of the puppy so as long as the puppy keeps his distance XD

I miss my doggie in Labuan too, though :(

Ahem. Girly stuff ahead. Feel free to skip to the end.

After having not bought any skincare/makeup-related stuff for quite some time… I succumbed. Partially because I went for a follow-up Dermalogica Face Mapping at the Leonard Drake salon in 1 Utama, and was told that applying just loose powder is apparently a bad idea >_> I don’t really see how, because it’s light and all, unlike foundation… but yeah. Apparently I need something more err… “protective” than just loose powder D: Other than that, my skin condition is relatively fine- it’s still sensitive (Genetic and all), but has become less oilier (Yay!) and more dry… perhaps due to age XD I prefer drier skin to oilier skin, to be honest :x

Admittedly, I am just too damn lazy and couldn’t be bothered with sitting at makeup counters finding the “perfect” shade, which could change easily, and listen to the salesperson’s spiels. I also dislike liquid foundations since I don’t have a proper makeup table and thus liquid foundation would be messy (Not to mention I don’t favour its heavier coverage)… and most foundations are liquid type =_= So I decided to give Benefit Some Kind-A Gorgeous a try, since it’s touted as a “foundation faker” and is in one-shade-for-all. I ended up buying the Benefit That Gal primer too (With a death glare from lo kong D:), which I actually don’t need, and am trying to sell >_< But, at least I got some free samples, although I wouldn't be using them either because they don't suit me :P

So yeah… Benefit Some Kind-A Gorgeous. Very pretty and interesting packaging overall, although it seems a bit more flimsy to me, as it’s plastic and all. Definitely not as high-end as Chanel, for sure. It’s not too bulky and quite travel-friendly in that sense. Oh, the cost? RM 133, which I find rather reasonable personally.

Huge mirror, but the case doesn’t stand well on its own D: The colour actually looks quite deep at first glance, and the texture also looks quite creamy, but rest assured that it’s not as thick or as dark as it looks. It glides on smoothly, the coverage is light and sheer and I didn’t have to blend much. It evened out my skin tone and gave me a very natural, dewy, radiant and luminous looking finish, with minimised pores, so I am quite satisfied :P The finish is definitely not matte, and I would liken it to either tinted moisturiser or light liquid foundation. It’s just like it claims- a “foundation faker”, without the heaviness, powdery looks or cakey-ness. The only gripe I have with it is the smell, which I would describe as rather silicone-y, but it disappears after a while. The shade suits me perfectly as well without looking too pink or ashy or weird :D

I’d probably not recommend this to oilier skins, and I probably would dislike it if my skin was oilier too, because of the non-matte finish and would probably make oilier skins look, well, oilier. Maybe due to its moisturising properties, which fits my skin condition now just fine, but that said, moisturising properly beforehand is important so that it doesn’t highlight dry flaky skin. I’d also not recommend it to people who are looking for coverage, as this gives very little to none, but perfect for those who just want to even out their skin tone without hassle or looking made up, like me :P I have to say, after craving for a matte finish in every powder/foundation I’ve tried, it takes some getting used to a natural, radiant finish @_@

The included sponge. When I first saw it I was rather taken aback by the thin-ness of the sponge, but I soon realised why it was so thin when I tried to substitute the sponge it came with with one of my own =_= A thin sponge means that it can fit into the compact case, and the case can close. Oh well. The sponge isn’t that bad though, although to my relatively small hands (And face) it’s huge, and I have to kind of fold it in half to apply XD

I’ve just tested it for a day so far, and with a light dusting of my Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder on top, so I need to test it for a few more days and without the loose powder too, just to make sure that it really works for me and before it becomes a Holy Grail (HG) item. That said, from my brief testing, it does make my skin feel soft and didn’t melt off. I’m not sure if I have any adverse reaction towards it (Judging by the ingredients, which I have scrutinised before hand, there shouldn’t be anything I am sensitive to), but I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t because I like it!

So yeah.

I need a spam filter of some sort, because I keep getting spam comments =_=

I also need to start on my assignments, and work on the presentations. 2 presentations next week, an assignment due and another midterm D:

I had a rant about humanity in general, and how it’s degrading generation by generation, but I suppose I’ll save all the negativity for something else… or channel it into something more productive. After all, what are one or two pieces of dust to scatter? Just remember- most of you are still green, and have no idea what it’s like out there. If you think that the people you’ve encountered are bad/terrible/bitches/bastards/[insert something negative and full of hate here], wait until you encounter the “real world” ;) I know it’s cliched and all, being an “old person’s spiel”, but believe me when I say it’s true. We’re merely doing all of you a favour by giving you all a head start. Look at it in a positive light and understand. And no, this is not targeted at anyone in particular, in case some weird misunderstanding happens and stuff =_=
