And So It Ends

Today was the last class of the semester. A very short semester, and I’m kind of glad that it’s over. In a span of 7 weeks, a lot has happened. New bridges were built, some bridges were burnt and some bridges were also mended (Though not necessarily in that order :P), but yeah. I am thankful for the incidents though, because in a way it has changed me, and I have understood myself and perhaps others more. If there’s one thing I have to say, is that I seriously have mellowed out a lot >_> Not that it’s a bad thing, because it makes me more rational and logical, and I no longer react like an immature kid anymore :D

Oh, right, there’s still the finals. 4th July, 7th July and 9th July T_T

This is going to be one long post, because I have so many things to talk and ramble about @_@

I am also trying my hand at selling stuff. It has been a while since I last did it >_> Here‘s what I’m selling, for RM 85 each :D Nifty. I’m hoping to earn some extra income for myself, so yeah, spread the word around eh? Thanks a lot :P

Might even look for part-time jobs during the 7 week break, though I’m not very sure in what. Sales would be easy… but I’m not exactly a sales kind of person. Maybe administrative work? Writing? Where would I be able to get a job for 7 weeks anyway? But then again, if it works out well, maybe I can consider doing it on a part-time basis after classes, etc. Oh well, we’ll see how it goes eh?

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, Bon Odori is on the 18th July, and I am definitely looking forward to it. For now, I have a slight dilemma. I’ve got two yukata, and I don’t know which one to wear to the matsuri T_T Please ignore the badly-taken photos, as they are the best I could get. I’m not a professional when it comes to taking self-photos, and it took me a lot of tries to get some decent-looking ones >_>

The black one with furin (Wind chime) designs. It’s quite sheer actually, and it’s also not that stiff. I think this one is longer though, which means more tucking and folding involved @_@

The white/cream one with kiku (Chrysanthemum) designs. It’s not sheer, and definitely thicker than the black one :P However, it’s quite stiff, especially at the sleeves.

They’re the best I can wear so far… as it takes some a lot of effort to tuck and fold properly by myself D: I’d need to be prepared earlier on the day of Bon Odori, because there’s still the obi issue too, despite mine being pre-tied. Though, having made a brief side-by-side comparison, I find myself being more partial towards the black one. Due to the more sedated colour and patterns, the tucks and folds are not going to be that obvious, provided the patterns are all aligned properly and all :x I’m going to be wearing my yellow obi (As pictured) to match my yellow geta, and I’ll be bringing a pink kinchaku. Which kind of explains the colour scheme of my yukata >_> Argh can’t wait T_T

OK, now that’s out of the way. I recently attended a photo shoot for a local pet magazine, and it was supposedly for billboards, but because the organisation I represent (Furry Friends Farm) sent in two people- Louis and me, whilst the other organisations sent in only one person, the decision that Louis should be the one up on the billboards were made. It’s kind of a relief and a disappointment at the same time for me :P I’d have loved to be on the billboards… but then again, I concur that Louis‘ photos turned out better than mine XD So, uh, yeah, not going to be causing any traffic accidents anytime soon.

I’m a convert to the colour contact lenses Mum bought for me when she went down to Labuan recently, from our optometrician, hence the correct power for the lenses. They’re Korean lenses… which at first I am skeptical about, but I found the reason why our optometrician had prescribed them to me- they’re smaller than the normal contact lenses I’ve worn, and thus, is SO easy to put on and take off! :D I’ve sort of overcome my phobia of removing contact lenses now, yay, so I can go on wearing them rather regularly.

I have two colours as shown- green and blue (I want purple, but Mum said it didn’t look nice *Shrugs*), and I’ve been wearing green lately for the past two days. Though, due to my darker-than-usual eye colour, it doesn’t really turn up green unless seen up close. I’ve had comments that my eyes look turquoise, grey and purple, amongst others instead XD But there is of course, a significant difference in eye colour. I’m also going to try blue… though I doubt it would turn out any better than green >_< I'll have photos of me with them up sometime soon, if I can get decent-looking ones XD

While I'm at it, I think my search for the ideal foundation has ended... hopefully >_< It wasn't easy, and a lot of money was wasted :( And it was also then I realised that I must be unconsciously Japanese as well, since apparently, according to this article, the Japanese perceive having open pores and a shiny (Oily, not radiant) face as being impolite, a sentiment that I too share, and have been trying to put across to explain why I tend to splurge on foundations/face powders :D

Kanebo Coffret D’Or Beauty Lasting Pact UV in BE-D :D I bought OC-C previously, but it was a shade too light and pinkish, so yeah :| BE-D however, is a perfect match for my skin tone… and I should learn to trust lo kong‘s sense of colour and judgment more :x I love how the Japanese foundations have such straightforward colouring schemes (Pink-based, neutral and yellow-based), and limited choices of colours (Maximum 3 for each category), which makes things so much easier, especially for a n00b like me with no patience to sit down and try all the colours available :D BE-D is, by the way, the darkest yellow-based colour they have. Apparently Asians in general should try to stick with yellow-based colours, from all the articles and tips I’ve read. Not sure if it suits everyone, but it works for me XP

The casing is very elegant, no? It’s studded with rhinestones and all, and I like it a lot. The foundation itself costs RM 125, but I bought BE-D with RM 70 Jusco vouchers so I got a discount :P The case itself is RM 40, with a sponge included, but I got mine with OC-C at Metrojaya at The Curve and Kanebo was having a promotion- in which the case is included with the foundation @_@ A total and utter steal. So far so good, and I am satisfied and hope it keeps up.

Oh, and it seems that my skin agrees with the Eve Taylor Pre-Blended Facial Oils for now too. Bliss.

Ah, now that the semester is over, I’d also get to catch up on sleep and things I’ve wanted to do… such as lie in and read, get my hair trimmed, check foreign accounts in banks, arrange meetings and outings and so on and so forth. Lo kong‘s friend is also coming down from Taiwan until August. May even go back to Labuan for a bit then, it depends on the situation @_@ So busy.

R.I.P. to both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.

Argh I’m so annoyed at the spikes with my ISP :|

    Steffy~~~~
I just realized: Remember that comment-spam I did when I was all caffeined-up? You said you’d lend me whichever yukata you weren’t wearing and all. Anyway, to get to the point: I would not be able to put it on. D:

There’s also the issue of accessories and driving. >_>
So I’ll probably wear jeans and t-shirt as per usual. xD Still interested in going, though.

  3. Rob says:

that looks so cute on you :)

  4. Stephanie says:

@Tibz: Well, the yukata in question is a simplified version, but yeah, the issue of accessories and driving :P Let me know when it’s close, so we can arrange a meet-up and stuff XD

    @Rob: Thanks :)

  5. Tibz says:

Weeeeeeeell, there is the possibility of me driving to your house, getting changed, and going with you guys, but then, accessories. I cannot imagine wearing a yukata with, say for example, my usual Nikes. >_>

    Yay, meet-up! ^^

  6. Arell says:

I like both the cream and the black yukata @_@ You look good in both =D

  7. Stephanie says:

@Tibz: We shall see when the time comes :D MSN has been a bitch lately, so sometimes messages don’t get through/don;t get received :|

@Arell: That’s the problem… both are nice, so I don’t know which one to wear T_T *Sniff*

  8. Arell says:

Hmmm… lemme see… the black one has more contrast, because you have such fair complexion. I can’t see your face since you had the camera blocking it but I can imagine you actually looked more youthful with the black one.

The cream yukata, on the other hand, makes you look more demure, sophisticated and classy. But it seemed to make you look a little more mature…

Well, at least that’s how I feel XD

  9. Stephanie says:

I’m fair? XD I’ve been very very tanned lately… and the photos are meant to obscure my face T_T

In a way I do agree with you :D The black looks more youthful and the cream one a bit more mature. I might still go with black… but I’ll see >_> Thanks for the comment, though :D *Hugs*
