Today was the last class of the semester. A very short semester, and I’m kind of glad that it’s over. In a span of 7 weeks, a lot has happened. New bridges were built, some bridges were burnt and some bridges were also mended (Though not necessarily in that order :P), but yeah. I am thankful for the incidents though, because in a way it has changed me, and I have understood myself and perhaps others more. If there’s one thing I have to say, is that I seriously have mellowed out a lot >_> Not that it’s a bad thing, because it makes me more rational and logical, and I no longer react like an immature kid anymore :D
Oh, right, there’s still the finals. 4th July, 7th July and 9th July T_T
This is going to be one long post, because I have so many things to talk and ramble about @_@
I am also trying my hand at selling stuff. It has been a while since I last did it >_> Here’s what I’m selling, for RM 85 each :D Nifty. I’m hoping to earn some extra income for myself, so yeah, spread the word around eh? Thanks a lot :P
Might even look for part-time jobs during the 7 week break, though I’m not very sure in what. Sales would be easy… but I’m not exactly a sales kind of person. Maybe administrative work? Writing? Where would I be able to get a job for 7 weeks anyway? But then again, if it works out well, maybe I can consider doing it on a part-time basis after classes, etc. Oh well, we’ll see how it goes eh?
As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, Bon Odori is on the 18th July, and I am definitely looking forward to it. For now, I have a slight dilemma. I’ve got two yukata, and I don’t know which one to wear to the matsuri T_T Please ignore the badly-taken photos, as they are the best I could get. I’m not a professional when it comes to taking self-photos, and it took me a lot of tries to get some decent-looking ones >_>

The black one with furin (Wind chime) designs. It’s quite sheer actually, and it’s also not that stiff. I think this one is longer though, which means more tucking and folding involved @_@

The white/cream one with kiku (Chrysanthemum) designs. It’s not sheer, and definitely thicker than the black one :P However, it’s quite stiff, especially at the sleeves.
They’re the best I can wear so far… as it takes some a lot of effort to tuck and fold properly by myself D: I’d need to be prepared earlier on the day of Bon Odori, because there’s still the obi issue too, despite mine being pre-tied. Though, having made a brief side-by-side comparison, I find myself being more partial towards the black one. Due to the more sedated colour and patterns, the tucks and folds are not going to be that obvious, provided the patterns are all aligned properly and all :x I’m going to be wearing my yellow obi (As pictured) to match my yellow geta, and I’ll be bringing a pink kinchaku. Which kind of explains the colour scheme of my yukata >_> Argh can’t wait T_T
OK, now that’s out of the way. I recently attended a photo shoot for a local pet magazine, and it was supposedly for billboards, but because the organisation I represent (Furry Friends Farm) sent in two people- Louis and me, whilst the other organisations sent in only one person, the decision that Louis should be the one up on the billboards were made. It’s kind of a relief and a disappointment at the same time for me :P I’d have loved to be on the billboards… but then again, I concur that Louis‘ photos turned out better than mine XD So, uh, yeah, not going to be causing any traffic accidents anytime soon.
I’m a convert to the colour contact lenses Mum bought for me when she went down to Labuan recently, from our optometrician, hence the correct power for the lenses. They’re Korean lenses… which at first I am skeptical about, but I found the reason why our optometrician had prescribed them to me- they’re smaller than the normal contact lenses I’ve worn, and thus, is SO easy to put on and take off! :D I’ve sort of overcome my phobia of removing contact lenses now, yay, so I can go on wearing them rather regularly.

I have two colours as shown- green and blue (I want purple, but Mum said it didn’t look nice *Shrugs*), and I’ve been wearing green lately for the past two days. Though, due to my darker-than-usual eye colour, it doesn’t really turn up green unless seen up close. I’ve had comments that my eyes look turquoise, grey and purple, amongst others instead XD But there is of course, a significant difference in eye colour. I’m also going to try blue… though I doubt it would turn out any better than green >_< I'll have photos of me with them up sometime soon, if I can get decent-looking ones XD
While I'm at it, I think my search for the ideal foundation has ended... hopefully >_< It wasn't easy, and a lot of money was wasted :( And it was also then I realised that I must be unconsciously Japanese as well, since apparently, according to this article, the Japanese perceive having open pores and a shiny (Oily, not radiant) face as being impolite, a sentiment that I too share, and have been trying to put across to explain why I tend to splurge on foundations/face powders :D

Kanebo Coffret D’Or Beauty Lasting Pact UV in BE-D :D I bought OC-C previously, but it was a shade too light and pinkish, so yeah :| BE-D however, is a perfect match for my skin tone… and I should learn to trust lo kong’s sense of colour and judgment more :x I love how the Japanese foundations have such straightforward colouring schemes (Pink-based, neutral and yellow-based), and limited choices of colours (Maximum 3 for each category), which makes things so much easier, especially for a n00b like me with no patience to sit down and try all the colours available :D BE-D is, by the way, the darkest yellow-based colour they have. Apparently Asians in general should try to stick with yellow-based colours, from all the articles and tips I’ve read. Not sure if it suits everyone, but it works for me XP

The casing is very elegant, no? It’s studded with rhinestones and all, and I like it a lot. The foundation itself costs RM 125, but I bought BE-D with RM 70 Jusco vouchers so I got a discount :P The case itself is RM 40, with a sponge included, but I got mine with OC-C at Metrojaya at The Curve and Kanebo was having a promotion- in which the case is included with the foundation @_@ A total and utter steal. So far so good, and I am satisfied and hope it keeps up.
Oh, and it seems that my skin agrees with the Eve Taylor Pre-Blended Facial Oils for now too. Bliss.
Ah, now that the semester is over, I’d also get to catch up on sleep and things I’ve wanted to do… such as lie in and read, get my hair trimmed, check foreign accounts in banks, arrange meetings and outings and so on and so forth. Lo kong’s friend is also coming down from Taiwan until August. May even go back to Labuan for a bit then, it depends on the situation @_@ So busy.
R.I.P. to both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.
Argh I’m so annoyed at the spikes with my ISP :|

Listening To: My Lecturer’s Shouting
Wahahahahahaha. I am supposed to be working on my PSY207 Human Personality assignment (Editing and cross-referencing for now), but I cannot concentrate with the lecturer talking in front… or rather, shouting into the microphone (And the speaker is right in front of me- my ears really hurt) =_= What has happened to my multi-tasking skill? D: Oh wait, it only applies to ALT+tabbing (Tibbar is comparing me to Corrigan from Ragnarok Wisdom) between windows >_> Oh well, all I need to do is elaborate on lo kong and Joanne’s parts, and check Jeihan’s references, so it shouldn’t take too long. I will need to send it to Tibbar after I am done for her to finish her part, and once everyone has given their reflection and etc, we’re done :D A day later than I planned and expected, but it’ll be a good assignment I hope.
The date and details for the Bon Odori has been announced! I found out from Oh Japan, where I got my first yukata set.
Date/Day: 18th July 2009, Saturday.
Time: Starts from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Venue: Panasonic Sports Stadium (Matsushita Stadium), Lot 4, Persiaran Perkilangan, Section 21, Shah Alam, Selangor.
Picture and details courtesy from Oh Japan. For more details, such as the map, you can check their post here.
And just in time, my new yukata, which I bought from eBay, in particular an eBay store- Kyoto Collection (Where I also got my shibori silk scarf) has arrived :D

It’s not very visible or obvious as a yukata in the photo, as its nicely folded and have huge, rough-ish stitches on it to keep it folded and in place (I think it’s quite visible as vertical lines), and since I am not going to wear it yet, I am going to keep it as it is for now :P I am excited, because this will be the first time I am attending the Bon Odori festival, and the first time I am officially going to wear a yukata set in full. Hmm… I wonder though, will my yukata set look matching and/or coordinating? D: Since the Japanese are a bit of a stickler for proper matching and/or coordinating sets T_T
So anyway, I managed to take a photo of the Estee Lauder Model Search booth at 1 Utama on the last day- which is the 14th June 2009, Sunday… right when they were packing up and all.

See the boxes? XD I didn’t realise it until AFTER I took the photos, so yeah. It’s quite a nice spacious setup, with separate sections for makeup, hairstyling, registration, counter, photo printing, the various skincare/makeup/fragrance products, and the photography + changing rooms are secluded behind that photo of the model. Digressing… I want those gloves, but in black.

A more overall view of the place.
Argh I’ve been going through foundations again- it’s like a spike >_> First Benefit Kind-A-Gorgeous, then Averine Smoothing Compact Foundation in Sand… and recently Kanebo Coffret D’Or Beauty Lasting Pact UV in OC-C. That’s more than enough D: I’m almost quite sure that Benefit Kind-A-Gorgeous isn’t really working well with my skin, but Averine Smoothing Compact Foundation is OK for the moment, though I haven’t used it long enough yet to make a decision. I also can’t really comment on Kanebo Coffret D’Or Beauty Lasting Pact UV at the moment though, since I just got it not too long ago :P
And since a hole is starting to burn in my wallet, I am looking for ways to save, yay. Instead of using the super-expensive Dermalogica boosters (Seriously, about RM 200 or so for 30ml), I am turning to Eve Taylor Pre-Blended Facial Oils (RM 46 before discount for 10ml). They’re much cheaper, and a blend of various essential oils- since it’s supposedly based on aromatherapy. I’m hoping that they’ll work, since they smell really good, and I’d save a lot :D
OK, time to stop rambling… and wait for class to end so I can go home and focus on the assignment T_T

I’m sure that most would have heard about the Estee Lauder Model Search going on… and if you haven’t, well, now you have! It’s currently going on at 1 Utama until this Sunday… and right now I am sorta kinda kicking myself for having not taken a photo of the whole setup because it just crossed my mind =_=
Oh well, anyway, on Thursday lo kong and me went to 1 Utama to do some errands, when of course we passed by the area. I casually pointed it out to lo kong, and somehow, he persuaded me to sign up for a slot. At first I was reluctant, since I know I’m not exactly model material… and I admit… I’m a bit photo shy and it makes me nervous D:
I ended up signing up for a slot on Friday, which is today, after PSY205 Social Psychology class. The slot I was given was 6.15 p.m., and when I mentioned that my class only finishes at 6 p.m., the lady kindly told me that it’s alright, and they’d wait for me anyway. When class ended I could feel my self-confidence somehow plummet, especially when confronted with the prospective of facing professional photographers >_< Still arrived late due to a traffic jam caused by a stalled lorry along the SPRINT highway, but true to their word, they waited for me.
So after completing the necessary forms and paid the RM 280, I was whisked away to begin my makeover! First was makeup, then hair, then photography, then onwards to selecting the photo you want and having it printed out and an option to have it framed, etc. I have to say, I enjoyed the makeup (Due to the attentiveness of the makeup artist, and I cried a little while getting my eyelashes curled because they were too long and she had to put extra effort into it) and the photography the most >_> The photographer wasn’t intimidating like most I’ve encountered, and another was on hand to help pose- body and even head, so for someone who is rather inexperienced with things like this, like me, it was a relief and I felt comfortable. The salespeople were also surprisingly non-pushy and friendly… so *phew*.
I didn’t like the hairstyling though- they seem to have students or junior stylists due to their experience (Or lack of), and they can only do limited styles- straight or curly. So yeah :|
Anyway, what do I have to show for attending it?

The acclaimed Estee Lauder Blockbuster Set + an eyeliner, which I got with the intention of giving it to Mum, since she wants a makeup set because it has been a long time she put on makeup and wants to try again, but has no time/is too lazy to go out shopping for them >_> There was a RM 230 rebate voucher redeemable against any Estee Lauder products, and only on the day itself, so I decided to get this set to also save me the hassle of thinking what to get :P

A peek into the interior. I have to say, the set looks gorgeous. The black crocodile-patterned case especially… which I might try to snitch :P I don’t really care much about the makeup inside- the palettes and lipsticks are mostly neutral colours, which would suit Mum fine but I’m not really interested in… because I’m just not that big into makeup D:

Also, a framed laminated photo of the photo lo kong, me and the photographer chose, voucher for a one-on-one makeover at any Estee Lauder counter, a discount voucher for Miko Hair Studio and the Blockbuster Set (Red box) that costs RM 288. Oh, and I also topped up RM 150 for a framed set of 4 photos and a CD of all the photos taken, because there are other photos that look good (Not just this one- I had a very hard time choosing!), and it was worth it :x Although I have to wait 2 months! I will definitely post it up once I’ve gotten them :D
Err… so yeah. I’m really not hoping to be a model or anything (Lest get selected!), but it sure was an interesting and awesome experience overall, because I’ve never had a makeover + professional photography session done, although I’ve been wanting and meaning to for quite a long time. I might even participate again next year, just for the fun of it like I did :P

A random photo taken by lo kong, after I’ve just completed the hairstyling session. A huge difference from the finished photo, eh? XP As mentioned, I was attending class prior to this, and was having my midterms, so contact lenses weren’t an option, hence the glasses, which I had to wear “off” a little because of my eyelashes poking against the lenses >_> And yes, before anyone asks, before printing the final photo, there was some Photoshop done, obviously, and I saw how it was done and all. What, did you really think all the magazine/advertisement/media models look that flawless all the time? o_O
And no, I am still not convinced by liquid foundation >_< First of all, I do not have a proper vanity table/space, so painting my face (Literally) will consume time and... well, since I have mild O.C.D (Obsessive-compulsive disorder), bringing the tools and stuff to the bathroom where I usually do my makeup doesn’t really sit well in my mind. I also am not very partial to the coverage, which is heavy, and the messiness… but maybe I’m just clumsy or like I said, it’s the lack of a proper place. Then there is the shade. My face is not as tanned as my body, so there’s an obvious mismatch >_> So it’s still compact/cream/powder foundation for me to look as natural as possible.
Mmm yes, I’m a peacock indeed… but wait, that would mean I’m a female-to-male tranny D:

So, I have changed the layout, and now my journal is Version IV.II XD And I love this one better :D It’s a nice and rather unique design in my opinion, and it was quite simple to customise to my liking, which is good. That means I spend less time tweaking things here and there >_> I’ll still probably tweak around now that it’s up, just to make sure everything is working fine and all :P Oh, and the layout has lo kong’s stamp of approval, and the first thing he noted was the donut-shaped galaxy design. The physics nerd D:
I’ll probably have photos in the next post, because I’m more excited on getting the layout up XD
The short semester is coming to an end @_@ I’ve been working my brains out lately, and my internal clock really is screwed up. I swear, my most productive moments are between 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. >_>
So anyway, for my reference, my schedule for the semester thus far:
8th June 2009, Monday
- PSY220 Career Guidance Module 2 presentation (I was mentioned by one of the judges T_T Primacy effect at work too.)
10th June 2009, Wednesday
- PSY205 Social Psychology group presentation and paper (1. We managed to pull off a unique presentation which is commended by the lecturer :D It could be better though, but oh well, and 2. I only realised that we needed a group paper at the almost last minute, but managed to complete it on time, and had a nice comment from the lecturer that it flowed nicely!)
11th June 2009, Thursday
- PSY205 Social Psychology individual assignment (Reviewing 5 movies and what Social Psychology concept they showcase, etc etc. Quite simple, actually, and was one page to reaching the page limit D:)
15th June 2009, Monday
- PSY220 Career Guidance Module 2 feedback (Neutral people, as in people I hardly know.)
- PSY220 Career Guidance Module 2 career counseling (Eeew. A waste of my time, I’m sure >_> And it was- talked more about my personal and social life than my career.)
16th June 2009, Tuesday
- PSY207 Human Personality group assignment (Technically due on 19th June 2009, Friday, but we get an extra 1% if we handed it on this day, so I’m trying to aim for this :x Hirohito hoooooo.)
24th June 2009, Wednesday
- PSY220 Career Guidance Module 2 career portfolio and presentation review (I might hand it in on Monday, though… depends :D I’ve got all my certificates and transcripts photocopied.)
- PSY220 Career Guidance Module 2 career counseling (Once again, eeew.)
26th June 2009, Monday
- PSY220 Career Guidance Module 2 career counseling review
And then, the finals on 4th July 2009, 7th July 2009 and 9th July 2009. Err, yay? But then, there’s going to be an approximately 7 week break :D I don’t know what am I going to do- maybe go back to Labuan for a while, just to see my doggie there XD
“What’s one or two pieces of dust to scatter?“- Aizen Sousuke. Sums up my situation perfectly. I used to be bothered, but not anymore. Like lo kong says too, just treat them like pieces dust, and that’s why I’m reminded of that line :P Ah, I am getting less and less volatile.
In other news, Benefit Some Kind-A Gorgeous doesn’t seem to be working well with me T_T Maybe it’s because I’m also at the hormonal period at the moment, but I’ll see how it goes. Meanwhile, I’ve gotten a new compact foundation to try- Averine Smoothing Compact Foundation in Sand, because it has only two colours- one light (Natural) and the other dark, which is Sand, and since I’ve been tanned from volunteering at Furry Friends Farm almost every Sunday, I chose the darker one because Natural seems too light :x Will see how it goes too. Meanwhile, I am swearing off trying new foundations/powders at the moment due to financial constraints >_>
Lo kong will be away for the weekend, and Mum will be gone from tomorrow onwards for about a week or so. That leaves me and little brother to tend to the house, puppy, plants and of course, my guinea pig… but no prizes for guessing who’s going to be doing more D:
Oh, and my ISP is being seriously lame lately =_=
I should sleep early tonight, because I haven’t had enough sleep :D
